COMPETITION RULES:
1. All entrants in Woodspring Indoor Bowls Club (WIBC) competitions must be full members of the Club. If any round of the Competition is played by a person who has not paid their subscription, the match will be conceded to the opponents.
2. No person may enter a WIBC Singles Competition, if they have also entered a similar Singles Competition in another Club.
3. All WIBC competitions will be played to E.I.B.A. and E.W.I.B.A. rules, with the following exceptions:
a. Visits to the ‘head’ will be restricted to Singles only, when only one visit will be allowed per person, each end. This will not apply to the Final.
b. FOUR-WOOD SINGLES will be played to 21 shots. If a result is NOT obtained within the booked period, the game will need to be resumed from the score reached - at a date and time arranged by the contestants. However, should the rink remain available, then the match can continue, with the agreement of both players and the marker. If the score is tied (20-20) after the booked period (normally two hours), then one extra end will be played.
c. TWO-WOOD SINGLES will be played to 21 shots or 2-hours if the winning shot target has not been reached.
d. PAIRS / MIXED PAIRS will be played to 16-ends or 2-hours whichever is the shorter.
e. TRIPLES / MIXED TRIPLES will be played to 15-ends or 2-hours whichever is the shorter.
f. In the event of a tie in pairs, after 16 ends, or in triples after 15 ends, then an extra end will be played within the 2-hour limit.
g. If any game is not resolved (no winner) within the maximum 2-hour period, then one extra end will be played to resolve the game. If this extra end is tied or declared ‘a dead end’, then another end should be played - if this is not possible, then the match will need to be re-played or resumed from the score reached - at a date and time arranged by the contestants.
h. If a ‘jack’ is illegally delivered, the opposing skip will place it. If the game has a two-hour limit, then no jack should be delivered after the bell has sounded.
i. For team competitions, two score cards must be kept, and these should be signed by the skips at the conclusion of the match. For singles competitions, the ‘Marker’ keeps the card, and updates the scoreboard.
j. Any game, not started by 15 minutes after the set time, due to the non-appearance of any competitor, will be forfeited.
4. No singles match may be played without a marker. The challenger (first/top person(s) on the match fixture list) must book the rinks and arrange for a Marker, who must be a full Member of WIBC.
5. The challenger must offer two dates before the closing date for each round of a competition, one of which must be at least 10 days before the closing date. Failure to comply with this rule allows the opponent(s) to claim the game. Should any competition not be played, then it will be awarded to the challenger if all rules have been adhered to.
6. Dress, up to the finals will be normal greys (white above the waist, with grey trousers or skirt). On Finals day dress will be all whites.
7. Finals will be played to a conclusion, and will Not be subject to the 2-hour match time. Triples will be played to 18-ends.
8. Substitutes will be allowed according to E.I.B.A./E.W.I.B.A. Rules. Vacancies may be filled at the discretion of the Competition Secretaries.
9. Any dispute will be settled by the Competition Secretaries, and their decision will be final.
