Info on League Teams:
Ask the ladies' or men's league secretaries about league vacancies. These are often posted on notice boards, particularly at the start of each new season. You will then be approached by team captains who have vacancies in their team.

The club is run by a management team and two section committees, ladies and men.
The management team comprises:
The President, the Treasurer and the Secretary and from both the sections - the section secretary, league secretary and captain.
The section committees run the bowling side and organise the leagues, competitions and matches. For your further information, copies of the Constitution can be obtained from the club Secretary.

APPLYING FOR CLUB MEMBERSHIP
We welcome new Members to join our Club, and know that you will enjoy playing bowls at Woodspring IBC, joining in our in-house leagues, and hopefully playing for our Club in friendly and competitive matches. Remember, training and coaching is free. And, there are social activities through the season.
Applications for Membership need to be submitted by all new players, seeking to join the Club. This may not apply if the player has become a Member of a local outdoor bowling Club in the same year, particularly Ashcombe Park Bowling Club who have no indoor bowling facilities.
An Application for Membership is written on a prepared letter, and displayed on the Club Notice board for a period of at least two weeks. The letter states the following:
“I wish to apply for Membership of Woodspring Indoor Bowls Club. I understand that this application is subject to the approval of the Club Management, and I may be required to be interviewed by them. If accepted [see note below], I undertake to conform to the rules of the Club, and the decisions of the Management Committee”’
“I appreciate that I shall have to pay an Annual Membership fee if accepted to the club, of £57[see note below], which includes entry into one league team. Applicants joining from a coaching course in the current season may deduct the £5 coaching fee from the annual membership fee.”
An Applicant inserts his/her Name, Address, and Telephone number. They also provide information on any previous experience, including details of any previous indoor or outdoor bowling, advising if they have not played for a while.
The application is then ‘Proposed’ and ‘Seconded’ by established Club Members, signing and printing their names.
“The Proposer and Seconder are responsible for:
( a ) Introducing the applicant to the members of the Management Committee.
( b ) Familiarising the applicant with the Club rules and etiquette of the game. Obviously the latter depends very much on whether the applicant was previously a bowler at another club.
Finally, the Application is dated, and signed by the applicant. The letter advises the following:
“This form must be displayed on the Club’s notice board for a period of at least two weeks during which time any Member may object in writing to the Secretary.
Note: It is very unlikely that any Member will object, unless there has been ‘issues’ at a previous Club, and even then, our Club would probably use the interview to discuss these issues, and not block an application because of them. Personal reasons for objection are unlikely to cause any application to be rejected, unless objections were received from several established Members. It is the Club Management’s decision to accept or reject an application, being as ‘open’ and as fair as possible, but their decision is final.
Cost of Membership may be reduced if an applicant is joining well into the season. Any such decisions will be taken by the Club Treasurer, and made known to the applicant when the application for Membership is approved. Junior Membership rates are available on request.
