Below is a special ‘window’ to the  Somerset County web-site, where all League Tables are recorded.  Last year’s Table is also provided.
SOMERSET COUNTY BOWLS LEAGUES
COMMENT
Our “A” Team has unfortunately been relegated to North Division Two, but our “B” Team has been promoted back to North Division One.  It is going to be ‘interesting’ to see what will happen.  The Somerset League could see that Team “A”, being the ‘top’ team should stay in Division North-1, and Team “B” stay in Division North-2; that would make everything simple.  But, in these ‘complicated’ times, the ‘simple’ approach may be overlooked, and put Ashcombe into a dilemma - playing our ‘best’ team in the lower division, or making Team “B” our ‘top’ team.

MATCH SUMMARY and TEAM PLAYERS
Team "A" 44(0pts), CLEVEDON "B" 81(12pts) (Home, 27 August)
This result sees Ashcombe's "A" team relegated, unfortunate since four teams are dropping down this season.  However, the "B" team has been promoted back to North-1, which should make things interesting for Ashcombe next year.

Team "A" 53(2pts) : WINSCOMBE "A" 59(10pts) (Home, 2 July)
The defeat was narrow, yet decisive. Strangely things started to happen from the 10th end - John Whitlow’s rink loosing 8 over 7 ends, whilst Alan Yates’s rink gained 8 over 5 ends.  Tony Williams’s rink were winning at the 10th but lost a 6 at the eleventh, and were unable to regain their advantage.  D Bleasdale, B Underhay, G Wilkinson, J Whitlow 10-20; R Powell, J Horn, J Taylor, D A Williams 20-23; M Adams, I Chesney, W Caddick, A Yates 23-16
Team "B" 67(10pts) : PORTIHEAD 38(2pts) (Home: 18 June)

S Hedges, J Main, G Wilkinson, J Whitlow 25-14; D Carr, D Bleasdale, I Chesney, A Yates 9-30; R Powell, J Horn, J Taylor, A Wilmot 19-17.
Team "B" 63(12pts) : St. ANDREWS "B" 41(0pts) (Away: 28 May)
From as early as the third end, Ashcombe were in control of the match.  Jim Creasey’s rink were 4 down at the 12th but then picked up 9 without reply.
A Wilmot, P Fisher, A Little, L Day 22-15; A Freke, A Cracknell, J Whitton, B Webber 22-10; A Purkiss, B Underhay, E Roberts, J Creasey 19-16
Team "B" 61(5pts) : YATTON "B" 61(7pts) (Home: 21 May)
It was ‘nip and tuck’ throughout the game, and a draw, on reflection, was the right result, with Earie Hooper’s rink picking up a 4 on their last end.
A Cracknell, M Parry, R Kibble, B Webber 17-19; A Purkiss, B Underhay, E Roberts, J Creasey 25-20; B Alden, P Fisher, R Simmons, E Hooper 19-22.
Team "A" 43(0pts) : Isle of WEDMORE "A" 72(12pts)  (Home: 14 May)
A comprehensive victory by the “Isle” when they visited Ashcombe; their success made more convincing  by the second rink gaining 10 shots on the last two ends to clinch victory and seal a win on all three rinks.
P Sheppard, J Horn, I Chesney, J Taylor 11-25; D Stanton, J Main, D Carr, J Whitlow 19-28; M Adams, D Bleasdale, Clive Winser, A Yates 13-19.
Team "B" 56(4pts) : BRISTOL "B" 59(8pts) (Home: 14 May)
A disappointing result for Ashcombe, winning on two rinks but failing to win overall.
A Freke, P Fisher, R Simmons, E Hooper 19-15; R Perkins, M Parry, B Underhay, B Webber 21-20; G Fews, A Cracknell, E Roberts, J Creasey 16-24.
Team "A” 55(8pts): CHEW STOKE “A” 54(4pts) (Away: 7 May).
The result was held in the balance right until the last ends were played, and crucially, Ashcombe gaining a total of five shots, won them the match.
M Adams, D Bleasdale, R Powell, A Yates 15-25; D Stanton, J Main, G Wilkinson, J Whitlow 25-13; P Sheppard, J Horn, I Chesney, J Taylor 15-16.
“Team B” 70(12pts) : MARK MOOR 38(0pts) (Away: 7 May).
This result was never in doubt, and with the surprise relegation last year, the team were keen to make a good start this season.
G Fews, T Cottrell, E Roberts, J Creasey 27-12; A Freke, P Fisher, R Simmons, L Day 21-10; D Andrews, R Kibble, A Little, B Webber 22-16.
